WENATCHEE, Wash. — Primarily used as a defender at North Idaho College, coach Ken Thompson knew that if needed, Irvin Angulo could step in at forward at any moment.
That moment came Saturday in the team’s Northwest Athletic Conference East Region opener.
Angulo, a sophomore from Vallivue High in Caldwell, recorded a hat trick in the second half as the Cardinals beat the Wenatchee Valley Knights 4-1.
“He played forward in high school and played defender for the first half today,” Thompson said. “We brought him off the bench in the second half and he did a good job of making horizontal runs. And today, he was a fantastic finisher. We looked like we were making methodical passes, and as Irvin made those runs, we started to play more instictual.”
