A Pablo man is currently at the Lake County Jail after he allegedly shot and killed another Pablo resident early Saturday morning.

According to a press release from Lake County Sheriff Don Bell, Ryan Black, 28, was arrested and held on a charge of deliberate homicide of Johnny McKeever, 34.

At 4:23 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, Lake County 911 received a call that a man had been shot at a residence south of Pablo on Old Highway 93.

Deputies responded and determined that McKeever had been fatally shot by Black outside of Black’s residence, the press release states.

An investigation by Lake County Sheriff’s Office detectives is ongoing.

On Monday, Black was formally charged with deliberate homicide during a Justice Court appearance. The charge carries a maximum sentence of 100 years imprisonment.
