Everybody likes nice piece of pie, and the proof was in the pudding (of the Chocolate Cream Pie). It was the annual Pie Contest held by the Mineral County Public Library in Superior on March 24, where people crowded in between stacks of books to sample savory favorites.

There were ten entries in a variety of categories including Fruit Pies; Specialty Pies; Juniors age 11 to 17; and age 10 and under. The over-all winner was Vicki Brown’s Lemon Cheese Pie. Nancy Wilson’s Rhubarb Surprise won in the Fruit Pie category. In the Specialty Pies, Adrienne Simmert won for her Gluten Free Chocolate Cream Pie and Alexea Kelsey won for her Apple Pie in the Junior category; while Karina Pearce won for her Coconut Cream Pie in the 10 and under category.

All the winners received a pie plate and server, while Brown won a special server, flour and a plate for being the overall winner. The contest was a hit with patrons and funds raised will support library projects.
