MOSES LAKE — Typically, there’s a little extra when Moses Lake and Sunnyside link up.

Physical play led to multiple yellow cards, numerous fouls and a meeting in the middle of Lions Field between each team’s captains and the referees. However, Sunnyside made enough plays to come away with a 4-1 win.

Sunnyside led 2-1 for most of the game before freshman Diego Cervantes scored twice in second-half stoppage time.

Senior forward Anthony Cortez scored Moses Lake’s lone goal, tying the game 1-1 in the 20th minute.

The Grizzlies took the lead for good just before halftime. After Moses Lake goalkeeper made a diving save to his left, Cervantes gathered the rebound and made a short pass to German Romo-Pinon in front of the goal, which Romon-Pinon one-timed into the net.

Moses Lake finishes the first half of Columbia Basin Big Nine play Friday at West Valley.
