East Region-leading Cardinals split with third-place Walla Walla

POST FALLS — Kalyna Korok hit a three-run home run in the first inning, then hit a solo shot in the fourth for North Idaho College in an 11-0 win the opening game against Walla Walla in Northwest Athletic Conference play at Post Falls High.

Freshman Madi Mott had four strikeouts over four innings, improving to 14-1 on the season for NIC (27-3, 18-2 NWAC), which leads the East Region.

Kennedy Anderson hit a three-run home run in the fourth in the opener for NIC.

In the nightcap, Megan Carver hit two home runs for NIC in a 16-3 loss to Walla Walla (22-8, 11-5) which is third in the East Region.

NIC travels to Clackamas on Friday before competing in an NWAC Crossover tournament next weekend in Portland.
