Royal City Spring Cleanup coming up

ROYAL CITY — The Royal City Spring Cleanup is Friday, April 20 through Sunday, April 22. The cleanup will take place beginning at 8 am to 5 pm.

Dumpsters will be available for use for anyone needing to drop off items for disposal. Items that will not be accepted include sod, bricks, rocks, tires, car batteries, paint, oil based products or byproducts, air conditioners, refrigerators or freezers, or any other hazardous waste items.

The public is asked to call City Hall at 509-346-2263 with any questions regarding the items they want to get rid of before loading them up to drop off.

FFA judging teams among the best at Central Washington State Fair

YAKIMA — The Othello High School FFA judging team brought home several top honors from the Central Washington State Fair held in Yakima Sept. 26. Among them were a first place banner in Class 6 Livestock, and a second place finish by Alyson Shade who beat out all but one of 300 competitors from 61 high schools in the individual dairy judging. Sarah Wilson placed eighth in horse judging.

Annual Jog-a-Thon raises money for a good cause

The Othello PTA held its annual Jog-a-Thon fundraiser at Lutacaga Elementary Friday, Oct. 13. Kindergarten through fifth grade students were scheduled to run laps outside of the school, but the event was moved into the gymnasium because the weather on Thursday left too much moisture on the grass for the kids to run through.
