A recent data breach at a separate, Alabama-based company may have put the information at risk of anyone who has filled out an online application to work at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center.

The only people who may be affected would be those who have applied to work at Cabinet Peaks since their application process went online several years ago, said Kate Stephens, Executive Director Foundation/Marketing for Cabinet Peaks.

Fasthealth only handles work applications for the hospital, and FastHealth has no access to any other hospital records or information, such as those of patients, she said.

At this time, it is only known that the FastHealth database was accessed by an outside party and that the file contained over 1,800 names and information from online work applications.

Some of the applications may have contained social security or driver’s license numbers, Stephens said. However, Cabinet Peaks has not received any reports at this time of identity theft related to the FastHealth breach.

FastHealth is sending out letters to anyone who may have been affected by the breach. Their logo, which should appear on the envelope, is the words “fast” and “health” run together, with the fast portion in red and the health portion in a dark blue with a white cross on a red circle for the “t”.

The letter contains further instructions on steps those affected can take to protect and secure their identity, as well as information on assistance from FastHealth.

FastHealth has contracted with an outside security company to address vulnerabilities in their system, Stephens said.
