Prep roundup: Ephrata's Kenedee Peters runner-up at Gamble Sands

BREWSTER — Ephrata’s Kenedee Peters finished sandwiched between two Bellingham golfers to finish second at Gamble Sands.
It was a tight race for first as Sophia Schmidt’s 76 edged Peters by one stroke. Schmidt’s teammate Jada French shot 78 to finish third.
Off the strength of Schmidt and French, Bellingham scored 335 to finish first in the team standings. Kamiak (345) was second and Ephrata (363) was third.
After both shooting 37 on the front nine holes, Schmidt overcame a seven on No. 17 to outlast Peters.

COWICHE — Othello broke from its CWAC schedule and beat Class 1A Highland 2-0.
The Huskies scored one goal in each half. Damon Valencia put the Huskies up 1-0 and Carlos Ezquivel added an insurance goal in the second half.

East Valley 12, Quincy 1
YAKIMA — East Valley scored seven runs in the fourth inning to pull away and beat Quincy 12-1.
The Jacks scored their lone run in the first inning and were limited to two hits by Red Devil pitchers Jacob Changala and Connor Batali.

Track and field
Moses Lake boys, girls win once at dual meet
EAST WENATCHEE — Moses Lake boys track won five events to beat out host Eastmont 79-66. The Chiefs fell to West Valley 81-64 and Wenatchee 75-66.
RJ Koreis won the 200 in 23.49 seconds. Johnny Rangel and Jon Ochoa won the 100 and 300 hurdles, respectively.
Moses Lake girls track was able to best West Valley 97-52, but lost to Wenatchee 100-49 and Eastmont 80-66.
The Chiefs found success in the field events as Renee Ohs finished first in shot put and Lacy Johnson won the discus.
