OTHELLO — The Old Hotel and Art Gallery is showcasing two local artists for the month of April.

Longtime volunteers of the Old Hotel, Jennie Fought and Linda Boothman will have their art displayed now through the remainder of April.

Boothman crafts in patchwork, creating purses and other fabric items. Fought will be displaying her stained glass and fused glasswork.

Fought explained that she took a class for stained glass back in 1981, and began creating large window pieces and many lamps after that. Now, she focuses more on small stained glass window pieces. Fought has also shifted to fusing glass pieces, an art she has taken to teaching herself at home through internet video tutorials. She fell in love with fusing glass after having seen it at many craft shows she’s attended she explained, and has now been working with it for about a year.

Her fused glass pieces mainly consist of bowls and vases she explained. Fusing glass involves shaping the pieces, then placing them in a kiln. Each time she adds decoration to it, the piece then has to be placed back into the kiln she explained.
