Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 6 years, 9 months AGO
The Coeur d’Alene Chamber Music Society will present a free afternoon of chamber music Sunday, April 29, at 2 p.m. in Coeur d’Alene.
“Opus 1: A Tribute to CDAide” will be performed at Trinity Lutheran Church, 812 N. Fifth St. Three ensembles will perform.
Opening the concert, CdABrassX5 will keep things lively with a medley of tunes from World War I and wrap up with a lush arrangement of “Irish Tune from County Derry.” Saxophone quartet Gluteus Saximus will draw from the deep pool of French saxophone compositions.
Finally, North Idaho Trumpet Ensemble (NITE) offers a wide variety, from the Renaissance period to contemporary pieces, including an arrangement of the familiar folk song “Shenandoah.”
The concert is a show of support for CDAide, a nonprofit that connects employees in the local hospitality industry to services ranging from emergency financial assistance to medical care and counseling.
The Coeur d’Alene Chamber Music Society was created to give local musicians a chance to perform chamber music in Coeur d’Alene’s ever-growing arts community.
The hope is that this concert will be the beginning of a continuing series of opportunities for musicians to perform. For more information contact Terry Jones at cdabrassquintet@gmail.com.
