St. Regis Resort District is making the town a little greener this year by bringing a recycling bin for residents to use, free of charge. With funds provided by the 3 percent luxury tax, the group will pay the $500 per “pull” of the bin which is usually about once per month.
It will be located at Regent Realty near St. Regis School and is open to St. Regis residents.
The Resort District is also holding St. Regis Cleanup Days on May 5 and 6; July 7 and 8; and Sept. 8 and 9. They will bring in a 40 yard container to Mullen Square, according to board member Jessica Connolly.
Recyclable items include cardboard, number one and two plastics, magazines, junk mail, paper sacks, newspapers, tin and aluminum cans, and paper. No personal garbage is allowed. For clean-up days, larger items like old building supplies, furniture, appliances and street tires removed from the rim, will be accepted. However, liquids or hazardous materials such as oil and paint will not be accepted. Also, no items can “stick out” above the top of the container.
