Recently, a Carol Kunzeman supporter penned a letter essentially encouraging voters to switch party affiliation in order to vote for less-than-conservative candidates in the Republican primary.
While the candidate did not author the letter herself, it nevertheless reflects poorly on her. Firstly: for not objecting the call from her supporters for voters to change their voter registration and make false party declarations, resulting in dishonest voting. Secondly: it raises the question of trust. Lastly: it reflects shoddily on those who would answer this call. Adding to her inability to define her campaign and explain to voters specifically why she’s running.
As a woman, I find this political tactic insulting, and quite telling of the pliability of the candidate. I’m asking all self-respecting, principled conservative women, and the men who love them, to reject any candidate whose supporters encourage diluting a Republican primary in order to win. Why? Because if Kunzeman’s supporters are willing to “win” at any cost, how can we trust her to act with integrity and fairness if she were to win the general election? This type of voter manipulation is nothing new, but we should reject it just as ardently.
There is a dignified conservative in this race, who fairly, honestly, and with transparency, represents Bonner County: sitting commissioner, Dan McDonald. Please give him your vote on May 15th.
