The story of Aladdin comes to life starring over sixty local children thanks to the creative staff from Missoula Children’s Theatre this Saturday, April 28. Two performances, 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Panida are sure to delight the entire family.
Edward Jones, STCU and Taylor Insurance for their generous support.
Eighty-two children auditioned on Monday for sixty-four roles in this delightful comedy and tasked with choosing who would best fit the roles of this year’s characters were MCT’s Christina Heagney and Ryan Jacob Pierce. They put the kids through the paces of reciting lines, following directions and showing off their thespian skills.
“Don’t think you did something wrong, if you don’t get chosen,” Pierce said to the children before he announced who made the cut. “We only have so many spots. You all did a great job!”
“Missoula Children’s Theatre tours all fifty state, five Canadian Provinces and sixteen countries. We want to reach the small communities that have few creative outlets or resources for their children. We want to provide access for places that have none. We envision helping our country’s children grow into confident, successful citizens using the positive results of our programs,” MCT’s website says.
POAC has been bringing visual and performing arts education to the students in Bonner County for forty years and is looking forward to the next four decades to expand their mission.
Please plan to attend one of these performances to see the good work these two organizations do for the youth in this and other communities.
Tickets cost $15 for adults and $5 for children under 18 and are available at POAC Office (Cedar Street Bridge), Eve’s Leaves, Winter Ridge, artinsandpoint.org or panida.org and at the box office a half hour before each performance. We hope to see you there. For more information call the POAC office at 208-263-6139.
