Othello took two of three tennis matches from Ellensburg Saturday to improve to 2-3 in league play and 6-5 overall. Kyler Villarreal kick-started the victory with a 6-3, 6-2 win at first singles over Andrew Hull. Abraham Alvarez followed suit with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Coulter Winter at second singles. The first doubles team of Levi Garza and Josh Valdez rolled past Jadien Duby and Jacob Hockeman 6-0, 6-3. But the second and third doubles teams struggled against Ellensburg. Mike Nelson and Trevor Carlton turned back Danny Faustino and Erik Mendoza 3-6 2-6, and Saul Mendoza and Axel Rivera were handed a 4-6, 2-6 loss from Luke Michel and Brennar Hall.

The Huskies and Tigers went at it in Othello Tuesday. The match was still in progress when the paper went to press.
