Dorothy M. (Nagel) Bentz, 89

Dorothy M. (Nagel) Bentz, 89, of Post Falls, Idaho, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2018, at Schneidmiller Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was born in Lind, Wash., on July 9, 1929, to Johaan and Barbara (Huether) Nagel.

Dorothy lived most of her life on the Rathdrum Prairie. She graduated from Rathdrum High School in 1947. On March 29, 1947, Dorothy married Henry R. Bentz in Coeur d’Alene. Together they farmed on the Rathdrum Prairie. She also worked as a server at the Clark House, Hayden Lake Country Club, Anthony’s, Sargent’s and Athletic Round Table, where she made many lifelong friends.

Dorothy enjoyed bowling, golfing and riding sand rails in the desert. Henry and Dorothy were snowbirds in Salton Sea, Calif., where they spent many winters. The friendships created at the Salton Sea gave her great joy.

Dorothy was a very hard-working woman and strong until the day of her passing. She loved her family and had an amazing sense of humor that was shared with all. She left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Dorothy is survived by Janet (Robert) Gibbens, Jackie (Joe) Wilt, Shirley Bentz (Byron Isbell), Sheryl K. Bentz-Sipe (Mark Sipe) and brother Herb (Sandi) Nagel. Also survived by grandchildren, Wendy Klaue (Carroll Richardson), Scott Klaue, Miranda (Kevin) Latscha, Alexandra Sipe and great-grandsons, Braden and Matthew Latscha. Dorothy was excited to reunite with her husband, Henry R. Bentz, her parents and grandson, Kyle Robert Sipe, in Heaven. She was also preceded in death by six of her siblings, John, Charlie, Gertrude, Anna, Edna and Harold.

Per Dorothy’s request, no services will be held. There will be a family celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Schneidmiller Hospice House, 2290 W. Prairie Ave., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. 208-772-7994.
