Bonja joins
Eastern Washington
volleyball staff
Eastern Washington University volleyball coach Leslie Flores-Cloud announced the first addition to her staff today with Kelly Bonja heading to Cheney after over a year at Bucknell University in a similar role.
“I am so excited to have Kelly on board,” Flores-Cloud said. “It was a joy to coach her and she is someone I can trust and build this program with. Her experience and background were a perfect fit and she will be a great role model and coach for these Eagles. Her recruiting experience and dedication to detail will be very helpful as she will lead in the recruiting efforts for our future.”
Bonja served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Bucknell University where she coached one sophomore to the All-Patriot League Second Team and another to the All-Academic Team.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to be a part of Eastern Washington University volleyball,” said Bonja. “I have known and admired Leslie as a coach and person for many years and I am beyond excited to coach alongside her.”
Prior to Bucknell, Bonja spent nearly four seasons at Tufts University, serving as a camp staff member, recruiting coordinator and an assistant coach. In 2016, Bonja was named the AVCA National Assistant Volleyball Coach of the Year as Tufts advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight that season. Also that season, her and her staff were named the New England Women’s Volleyball Association Coaching Staff of the Year, in addition to the same accolade from NESCAC in 2014 and 2016.
Van Tol hires Huntzinger as Boise State pitching coach
BOISE — The Boise State baseball program has added another key piece to its staff, as Brock Huntzinger has been named the Broncos’ pitching coach, head coach Gary Van Tol announced.
“Having our pitching coach in place is exciting for everyone, especially the pitchers who will be on campus this fall and the underclassmen who have committed to Boise State,” Van Tol said. “It has been a long process but well worth the wait. Brock comes highly recommended from some great baseball people at the professional and collegiate levels. His journey and experience will make an immediate impact in the development of our pitching staff. He’s lived the dream and now he’s ready to help dreams come true. We welcome Brock, his wife Cait and daughters, Hudson and Parker, to our Bronco family.”
Huntzinger, originally from Pendleton, Ind., spent 10 seasons in professional baseball before joining the college ranks as an undergraduate assistant with both Indiana and Arizona State.
