Larry Riley resigned as publisher of the Coeur d’Alene Press on Wednesday to “pursue other opportunities,” said Brad Hagadone, president of The Hagadone Corporation, the newspaper’s parent company.

“We wish Larry nothing but the very best in his career pursuits,” Hagadone said.

Riley joined The Press in October 2016 from Spartanburg, S.C., where he had served as publisher for two and a half years. As publisher of The Press, Riley also had overall responsibility for the company’s newspaper operations throughout North Idaho, including Sandpoint, Bonners Ferry and the Silver Valley.

Hagadone said a search for Riley’s successor will begin immediately. In the meantime, he said, The Press will be managed by what he called “very capable, experienced professionals” — Editor Mike Patrick, Business Manager Sheri Jones, Circulation Director Bill Bollinger and Advertising Director Kari Packer.
