Man dies in multi-vehicle accident on U.S. 95

BONNERS FERRY — According to the Idaho State Police, on August 6, at 1:46 p.m. a fatal multi-vehicle accident occurred on U.S. 95 at milepost 534.9, north of Bonners Ferry, blocking both lanes of travel for hours.
According to the report, a gray 2007 BMW 335I, driven by Spencer Ritchie, 18, of Calgary, Alberta crossed left of center, and struck another vehicle head on. The BMW then left the road, proceeding down an embankment. Ritchie was pronounced deceased at the scene and the next of kin have been notified.
The other vehicle that was struck was a 2017 Ford Expedition which was pulling a camping trailer. According to the ISP report, the driver of the Expedition was Daniel Machado, 39, of Manteca, Calif. Machado was taken by Life Flight to Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene.
Kimberly Machado, 36, and four juveniles also in the Expedition, sustained minor injuries. Seat belts were worn by everyone involved, ISP reported.
