The new EMS Advisory Board is still seeking a local citizen from Lincoln County to serve alongside other stakeholders.

Along with the Libby, Troy and Eureka volunteer ambulance services, the board is expected to have representation from Cabinet Peaks Medical Center, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and the County Commission.

The goals of the board include building trust and communication among the various entities while developing ideas and solutions for the medical response challenges facing the county. The board will also look at developing cohesive strategies for using resources from training to response.

The board will also be a forum for discussion of questions such as how to recruit more volunteers for the ambulance services, how to increase medical capacity in the local community and how to best handle transportation for medical treatment outside of the county without reducing the ability of volunteer ambulance services to respond to 911 calls in the county.

The first meeting of the preliminary board members is expected to take place August 9, and they are expected to discuss administrative questions such as future meetings schedules and agendas.

Those interested in applying for the citizen at-large position need to be a resident of Lincoln County who can demonstrate a relevant background and experience.

Those interested are encouraged to submit a brief history of experiences and education along with an explanation of why they are interested in being involved in the discussion.
