SANDPOINT — We all have ideas on how we can make more money and follow our passion at the same time. But taking those concepts and actually acting on them is something few do. After all, becoming an entrepreneur involves a lot of risk, both financial and emotional. It involves designing, launching and managing a business—and it can be scary. But learning from others who have taken on the journey and succeeded can be inspiring.

Andrea Marcoccio, co-owner of one of Sandpoint’s newest businesses, Matchwood Brewing Company, has been able to take the concept she and her husband, Kennden Culp, dreamed about and together the couple has taken on the journey of opening their own business.

Andrea shares that Matchwood Brewing Company will be a neighborhood brewery where personal connections will foster positive community change through the power of dialogue and laughter, not to mention the delicious handcrafted beer.

As a small business owner and an executive director of a nonprofit for the past decade, Andrea says she loves managing people, balancing books and thinking through endless details—all of which have added to her success.

“Andrea is such a kindred spirit with so much drive and ambition,” said 7B Women board member Jill Whitesel. “She and her husband have put their hearts and souls into building their dream and her candid stories of the ups and downs of their journey are sure to uplift and inspire us all.”

On Tuesday, Aug. 14, please join 7B Women as they welcome Andrea who will share about her journey and the challenges she has met. We can all benefit from the advice of entrepreneurs whether we want to pursue our own business or are simply in the workplace. Andrea will share the lessons she has learned and offer advice about what has been successful and what has not been.

The 7B Women’s August luncheon will take place from 11:45am to 1pm at Tango Café and is open to everyone in the community, men and women. The cost is $21 or $16 if you are a member of 7B Women, Inc. Individual memberships cost $50 per year and can be paid online at the group’s website, 7BWomen.com.

Please note that due to the high participation in the past and so Tango Café can adequately prepare for the luncheon, pre-registration is highly encouraged.

If people would like an opportunity to promote their business at the luncheon, attendees are asked to bring an item to raffle and will be given a “minute with the mic” during the course of the luncheon. Because of the number of raffle items that have been donated in recent months and the time constraints of the luncheon, 7B Women is limiting the opportunity for a minute with the mic to current 7B Women members only.

Register online at 7BWomen.com and you can also purchase your raffle tickets ahead of time to avoid standing in line at check in and optimizing your networking time. Raffle tickets are $1 each or 6 tickets for $5.

Clines giving talk on endearing relationships

With February upon us, thoughts turn to Valentine’s Day. Whether you love it or dread it, it is a time to reflect and focus on nurturing the relationships in our lives. Over the years, many of us here in Sandpoint have turned to world renowned psychiatrist and author Foster Cline to guide us through those complicated moments. Whether it is a relationship with a child or a spouse, Dr. Cline has provided us with thoughtful advice through his books and countless local speaking engagements.
