QUINCY - Deputies are seeking information on a vehicle that reportedly struck and killed a man near Quincy early Friday morning and fled the scene.

The Grant County Sheriff's Office says Carlos Flores, 21, of Ephrata, was walking east on Road 9 Northwest, near Road I.5 Northwest, when he was struck by a vehicle about 12:30 a.m. Flores reportedly came to a rest in the westbound lane. A passerby, identified as Erma Snider, 30, of Ephrata, reportedly spotted Flores' body, turned around to check on him and dialed 911. As she was on the phone with MACC Dispatch Snider struck Flores' body. She remained at the scene until deputies arrived and was interviewed and released.

Investigators have gathered evidence from the vehicle they believe struck Flores. The evidence will be sent to the crime lab for analysis to determine the make and model of the vehicle that struck the victim. The sheriff’s office says deputies will be gathering footage from nearby home security surveillance cameras and roadway cameras to identify the vehicle.

“It’s clear that the vehicle sustained front end damage and that the driver likely felt, heard or saw the collision with the pedestrian and then fled the scene,” Sheriff Tom Jones said. “We’re asking the driver to come forward and speak with investigators.”

If you have any information on the incident contact the Grant County Sheriff’s Office at 509-762-1160 or via email at crimetips@grantcountywa.gov. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
