Dorothy M. Baughman, 99
Dorothy Margaret Baughman went home to be with the Lord on Aug. 7, 2018. She was born Nov. 18, 1918, in New York City to August and Clara Mall.
When she was 6 her family moved to Imperial Valley in California and later to Riverside, Calif.
She graduated from Riverside High School and Riverside Junior College, going on to the University of California, Los Angeles, where she graduated as a teacher in 1941. She taught school for two years in Little Rock, Calif.
She married Harold G. Baughman, an officer in the United States Army, on Sept. 1, 1942. After the war they moved north to Medford, Ore., where Harold went to work for the local power company, which moved them to various towns around the Pacific Northwest during Harold’s years with the company. Dorothy did substitute teaching during these years and various volunteer jobs.
Harold and Dorothy retired in Bend, Ore., later moving to Hayden, Idaho, to be near children and grandchildren. Dorothy enjoyed traveling with her husband and playing bridge with her friends. Harold died in 2012.
She is survived by her three children, Joan Gabrielsen, Jean Baughman, and George Baughman; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
