Country superstar Josh Turner will bring his deep vocals to the stage as the headliner for the 2018 North West Montana Fair and Rodeo on Wednesday, Aug. 15. The fair and rodeo is scheduled for Aug. 15-19 at the Flathead County Fairgrounds with a theme of “Discover!” Concertgoers can save $3 off day-of ticket prices by purchasing admission early online at www.nwmtfair.com.

Turner is a multi-platinum artist with multiple Grammy and American Country Music Award nominations to his name. He is best-known for his hit songs “Your Man,” “Why Don’t We Just Dance,” “Firecracker” and “Time Is Love” — the most-played country song of 2012. He is also one of the youngest members of the esteemed Grand Ole Opry. Rolling Stone has applauded him for his “river deep baritone” and his “country purist” style. People Magazine says the “Nashville veteran flaunts his deep bass” on Deep South and that the album is “an ode to down-home staples, from finding that perfect love on ‘Hometown Girl’ to savoring the laid-back life on the title track.”

Turner broke into the country music scene in 2003 with the release of his debut album, “Long Black Train” and has followed that up with five more records, the latest of which was “Deep South,” released last year.

In addition to his musical career, the 40-year-old has dipped his toe into other artistic pursuits, including a role in the Billy Graham biopic, “Billy: The Early Years,” and in 2014 he released his first book titled, “Man Stuff: Thoughts on Faith, Family and Fatherhood.”

This weekend, Martin City will awake from its winter slumber for a raucous weekend of racing, socializing and perhaps, more than a little imbibing. The 40th annual Cabin Fever Days includes events like the mountain man competition, arm wrestling tournament, snowshoe softball and even a kids pool tournament. But an account of the three-day mountain festival would be incomplete without mention of the barstool ski races, where contestants fly down a groomed hill on home-engineered contraptions affixed to a pair of skis.
