Hope — The Sam Owen Fire District has adopted a resolution prohibiting open burning due to severe fire danger existing in the districe as a result of forecast low humidity and high temperatures combined with dry fuels from the recent hot, dry weather.

Open burning includes any outside fire such as campfires, cook fires and the burning of waste, refuse or other materials.

The use of charcoal barbecues is also prohibited. Propane gas grills are allowed, but should be used with caution, especially in windy conditions.

District board members and fire chiefs are asking for the public’s cooperation in complying with this resolution and helping to prevent potentially catastrophic wildfires during this time of severe fire danger.

If you have any questions please contact the Commissioners, Co-Chief Tim Scofield or Co-Chief Stu Eigler by phone: 208-264-5745 or email: sofd@wow-tel.net.
