SANDPOINT — Bike and Build riders are returning to Sandpoint this week to help out Bonner Homeless Transitions for the third year in a row.

Bike and Build is a nonprofit that sponsors cross-country bike trips to benefit affordable housing, so each build project across the country involves affordable housing in one way or another. For the past two years, the group has helped out at BHT's Blue Haven home in Sandpoint. This year, they will be doing some work out at the Trestle Creek property, which is being converted to low-income housing.

The Bike and Build riders are hosted by the First Presbyterian Church in Sandpoint each year, which offers them a place to stay as well as meals. Jane Fritz with First Presbyterian said the church is looking for food donations to help provide meals to the 27 riders, 11 of whom have special dietary needs.

To find out what food items are needed, call Dave Pietz at 208-597-6908.
