Harold S. Nelson, 90

Harold S. Nelson passed away at the age of 90 on Aug. 14, 2018. He was born Feb. 6, 1928, in Pullman, Wash., oldest son of Hjalmer and Minnie (Held) Nelson. He graduated from Pullman High School, where he enjoyed playing the trumpet in the band. He married Gerry (Viger) Nelson in Moscow, Idaho, on June 26, 1949.

Harold farmed for many years in the Whelan/Moscow areas. He was also a flight instructor at the Moscow/Pullman Airport and worked for Campus Link.

Harold enjoyed fishing, traveling, and boating on Lake Pend Oreille. He and Gerry retired to Bayview, Idaho, where Harold enjoyed taking his grandchildren out on the lake to water ski, kneeboard, and search for mountain goats. He also served as a Citizen on Patrol (Cop) for Kootenai County. Harold never met a stranger. At the time of his death, he and Gerry resided at Garden Plaza in Post Falls, Idaho.

Harold is survived by his wife of 69 years; three daughters, Teresa (Henry) Brown of Bayview, Idaho, Nancy Russell (Monty) of Emmett, Idaho, and Jane Nelson of Boise, Idaho; brothers, Wayne (Esther) Nelson of Salem, Ore., and Gordon (Diane) Nelson of Scottsdale, Ariz.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Linda; and granddaughter, Kelli Russell.
