Davis fire

The Davis fire was 6,032 acres and seven percent contained Monday morning.

Monday, heavy equipment was to bolster the indirect control line on the eastern edge and to connect it to containment lines near the south edge. To the east, crews were to move equipment for construction of a contingency line along Forest Road 5886 to protect the community of Yaak, the incident report states.

Tenmile, Sterling Complex fires

Over the weekend, the Tenmile fire held steady at 681 acres and 91 percent containment, while the Sterling Complex grew from 907 acres to 1,216 acres and its containment dropped from 27 percent to 23 percent.

Sunday evening, a hotshot crew did a successful burn to containment lines in the northwest corner of the Huckleberry fire in the Sterling Complex, states a Monday morning incident report.

Monday, crews planned a burn on the Pinkham Tower fire portion.

“By [burning] to pre-established containment lines under the right conditions, firefighters can effectively control the fire and create containment lines that are safer and more predictable to work in,” states the incident report.

Also Monday, heavy equipment was expected to finish a containment line west of the Pinkham Tower fire that would join the containment line on the north and northeastern edge, the incident report states.

Pre-evacuation orders remain in effect for residents near Edna Creek, Lake Creek, Sutton Ridge and Swamp Creek roads.
