Thomas Arthur Tobin, 89
Thomas Arthur Tobin, 89, passed away at The Schneidmiller House in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on Aug. 18, 2018.
Thomas was born in Spooner, Minn., on Jan. 4, 1929, to Edward W. and Beulah (Edwards) Tobin. He married Bette Jane Solom on Feb. 7, 1951, at the Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, Minn.
Thomas, Bette and the family moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, in 1966. He was a commercial fisherman on Lake of the Woods, in Baudette, Minn., and was employed for 25 years at Food Service of America in Spokane, Wash., where he was a truck driver and also worked in the warehouse. After his retirement, Thomas helped his son Jeff at the Saturday Farmer’s Market on Prairie Avenue, in Coeur d’Alene selling Tomahawk Beef Jerky.
He enjoyed many years of deer and elk hunting in Idaho with his sons and other relatives.
He is survived by his wife Bette of 67 years; sons, Anthony “Tony” Tobin and his wife, Jolee of Cheney, Wash., Michael Tobin of Lost Mountain, Idaho, and Jeffrey Tobin and his wife, Carol of Post Falls, Idaho; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Jim Tobin of Seattle, Wash., and sister, Lois Meier of Arkansas.
Thomas is preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Madison Taylor Goad in 2013; twin sister, Timmie Wood, and brothers, Edward and Jack Tobin.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 24, 2018, at the English Funeral Chapel, 1700 N. Spokane St., Post Falls, Idaho. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls. A reception will immediately follow the graveside service at the funeral chapel.
