QUINCY — Foul play is suspected in the death of an unidentified man who was found deceased in Quincy Thursday morning.

The unidentified male’s body was reportedly found in the 700 block of Central Avenue South, near QMS Auto Supply, about 8:45 a.m. Quincy Police Department Chief Kieth Siebert said the case is being investigated as a homicide. The QPD currently believes the male's death is related to a shots fired call the night before. About 10:40 p.m. Wednesday night the QPD responded to the 1200 block of Central Avenue South for a report of shots being fired. The caller said he believed the shots were fired south of town and not in city limits. Police checked the areas of state Route 281 and Road 9 Northwest, but did not find any evidence.

"Even though the report of shots fired was five blocks south and, at that time, thought to be further south out of town, officers believe these two incidents are related," stated the QPD in a news release.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the QPD with the investigation. The Grant County Coroner's Office will be conducting an autopsy, possibly on Friday, to determine the male’s cause of death. Officers have identified a dark colored pickup truck that is believed to be the suspect vehicle and are asking the public to come forward if they have information about the truck or incident.

"The shooting is an isolated incident and investigators believe the victim was targeted, there is no current threat to the community," said the QPD.
