MOSES LAKE — Locals who want to safely store their firearms have the opportunity to receive a free lock box or trigger lock during the Safe Firearm Storage Giveaway event in Moses Lake on Saturday.

The event, organized by Samaritan Healthcare, Moses Lake Community Health Center and the Grant County Health District, will take place at two Moses Lake locations from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday. The giveaway locations are Sportsman’s Warehouse, 1020 N. Stratford Rd., and Tri-State Outfitters, 1224 S. Pioneer Way.

Attendees will be trained on how to use a lock box and trigger lock, after which they will be able to take one home free of charge. Organizers say supplies are limit and items will be given away on a first come, first served based. Identification is not required, but attendees must be 18 or older and only two items will be allowed to be taken home per household.

“Safe firearm storage protects children, reduces the risk of firearm injury, and saves lives,” reads a press release from Samaritan Healthcare.
