GEORGE — The George Community Hall is hosting the 12th Annual George Washington Bluegrass Festival, Sept. 10-16, in the George Community Park.

Known for being a little town with large events, George will be the center of the free bluegrass festival for the entire week. The ‘Pickin’ Party’ starts on Monday with campers arriving and setting up camp around the perimeter of the park.

Music will be playing all day for seven days, which means that music lovers can come any time and enjoy listening to Americana roots music.

Guests are invited to bring a lawn chair and a sweater for nighttime festivities. Those who play an instrument are also encouraged to bring them.

There will be live, on-stage performances Friday afternoon and all day Saturday. Open mic opportunities and instrument workshops are offered free. Featured concert bands are The Weavils, Roosevelt Road, Carter Junction, Foggy Noggin, Rusty Hinges, Lucky Break Boys, The Combinations, and the George, a homegrown string band.

This festival is hosted by the George Community Hall, a local non-profit organization. It is a week-long event that takes place at the beautiful George Community Park, which is right next door, on the west side of the Community Hall. Event organizers have a limited number of RV parking spaces that will allow access to electricity for folks with special needs, which cost $25.
