Ruby Bruninga, 90
Ruby Vera Bronson Bruninga, 90, departed from this life to be with her Lord and Redeemer on Aug. 23, 2018. She was born Nov. 30, 1927, in Ogden, Utah, to Arthur and Vella (Cunningham) Bronson. She grew up in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School. She had two sisters and one brother.
She married Alloys “Al” Bruninga on Feb. 8, 1947, in Elko, Nev. They lived in Utah for several years, then moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, in 1961. Then they moved around while Al worked in the Minuteman Missile program, settling in Coeur d’Alene again in 1980. They had three amazing daughters, Peggy (Mike) Reynolds of Rathdrum, Idaho, and Marlyn Bruninga and Jan Turner, both of Coeur d’Alene. Her ever growing posterity consists of eight grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Ruby was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, one sister, her brother and one sister-in-law. She is survived by her children; grandchildren; sister, Bebe Fletcher of Coeur d’Alene; sister-in-law, Dorothy Bruninga Gresham of Utah; Allyn Bruninga of Georgia; and Jacque Bruninga of Arizona; along with many nieces and nephews.
Ruby worked several jobs over the years and enjoyed bowling, traveling, sewing and crafts. She became quite a thrill-seeker in her later years. For her 80th birthday she went parasailing, and she enjoyed many of the roller coasters and thrill rides at theme parks. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary 149, of Athol, Idaho, for many years and was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2018, at Forest Cemetery, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
