Flathead girls 3rd, Glacier finishes 5th at Butte Invite golf

BUTTE — The Flathead girls, led by Marcella Mercer’s fourth-place finish, placed third in the team standings at the Butte Invitational golf tournament on Wednesday.
Mercer shot 81-87—168 to finish 15 shots off the pace.
Mercer has finished in the top five of every outing this fall.
Tricia Joyce of Butte Central was the medalist, 80-73—153.
Bozeman, 672, took the team title with Butte, 738, second and Flathead, 773, third.
Glacier, 829, was fifth.
Flathead’s No. 2 scorer was Jillian Wynne, who 14th. She shot 94-97—191.
Kate Trukle was 15th for Glacier with her 96-96—192.
For the boys, Bozeman, 600, Hamilton, 631, and Missoula Big Sky, 657, finished 1-2-3.
Glacier, 704, was 10th and Flathead, 724, 12th.
Jordan Verge of Bozeman was the medalist, 76-72—148, edging Tristan Hanson of Hamilton, 72-77—149, for top honors.
Flathead and Glacier did not have a top 15 finisher.
