- GIRLS SOCCER

COEUR d’ALENE — Cali Shipman and Sarah Hines scored two goals each in the first half, leading the Coeur d’Alene Charter Panthers past the St. Maries Lumberjacks 6-0 in Intermountain League play at Eisenwinter Field on the campus of North Idaho College on Wednesday afternoon.

“We had less than a 24 hour turnaround between Timberlake and St. Maries, but the girls pushed through some tired legs and had an excellent first half, building and finishing on goal,” said Coeur d’Alene Charter coach Stacy Smith, whose team beat Timberlake 6-0 on Tuesday night. “Cali and Sarah were able to find the back of the net a few times in the first half to make a statement. In the second half, we focused on short passes and building in different ways with a different lineup and players. It was good to see some different combinations. St. Maries has some athletes in the middle of the field and up top that put more pressure on our back line, so that was good to see how they could handle that pressure.”

Izzy Lehosit and Emma Bartlett also had goals for Coeur d’Alene Charter (3-0, 3-0 IML), which is scheduled to host Priest River on Tuesday at Eisenwinter Field.

St. Maries (2-2, 2-2) travels to Bonners Ferry on Friday.
