BONNERS FERRY — The Badgers girls soccer team has pushed off on the 2018 fall season with ten freshman and six sophomores.
“We are very young compared to the rest of the league and are hoping to develop the younger players by the end of the season to compliment our more experienced upperclassmen,” said Coach Ed Moe. “Practice has gone well to date.”
Seniors Hannah Beazer, Falisha Elliston and Sydney Watt return, along with underclassmen Lily Blackmore, Makayla Mierke, Prairie Plaster, Emily Sanchez, Paisley Schulte, and Morgan Swanson, with senior Jennifer Schmitz, sophomore Emma Pinkerton and freshman Sophia Roemer coming onto the team this season.
With two-time defending state champion Coeur d’Alene Charter and perennial state qualifier Timberlake among their conference opponents, the Badgers are looking to improve their game and be a competitive force in a very competitive district.
“We’re hoping to compete for the Intermountain League’s second berth to state, along with Priest River, St. Maries, and Kellogg,” said Moe.
Moe is optimistic about the fairly young team.
“We are looking to improve daily/weekly, so when districts roll around in early October, we’re capable of challenging for a berth to the state tournament,” said Moe.
