Mattawa residents injured in Richland collision

RICHLAND — A man and woman from Mattawa were injured in Friday morning crash in Benton County after a man failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed into their vehicle.
About 6:50 a.m., Kyle Gargano, 26, of Benton City, was driving a 1998 Ford Econoline van north on state Route 225, in Richland city limits, when he reportedly failed to stop at the state Route 225/state Route 240 stop sign. He reportedly crashed into a 1999 Saturn SL1 driven by Maria Recinos, 69, of Mattawa, who was heading east on SR-240, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Recinos and her passenger, Salvador Ramirez, 62, of Mattawa, were injured in the collision and transported to Kadlec Medical Center in Richland for treatment. Gargano was not injured. The Saturn was totaled in the collision. The Ford van sustained reportable damages and was driven from the scene. The patrol reports Gargano was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign.
