At Frenchtown for the Class C Tip-Off, the Charlo Vikings would prevail in both contests by a slim margin. On Friday against Valley Christian, Landers Smith led all scorers with 18 points. The Vikings held a 10-point lead entering the final frame, but had to hold off a rally by the Eagles.
On Saturday, the Vikings used a strong first half, then countered the contributions of their AA opponent during a second-half run by the Spartans. Coach Reese Cox pinpointed a key component of the outcome that hinged in Charlo’s favor, “We held Sentinel, a much taller team, to five offensive boards to our thirteen,” he said. Connor Koenig turned in a varsity career-high performance, while Nate Delaney and Smith scored in double digits as Charlo posted their second win of the Tip-Off.
Charlo will host Victor on Friday, Dec. 7.

Pirate plaque preference Burger-larized by Bulldogs
At Smith Fields in Whitefish for the 2018 State A boys soccer championship, the Polson Pirates and the Northern A conference champion Bulldogs would put on quite a show in an energetic quest to claim the coveted state A crown last Saturday. This would be just the third foray to the championship match in the history of the Pirate boys’ soccer program, who hoped that the idiomatic expression “third time’s a charm” would play out in Polson’s favor.
Scarlets have new coach; Mission returns four starters
The 2018-19 rendition of the Arlee Scarlets have to be rated as within the scope of a reloading phase given that the lion’s share of their offensive firepower returns along with further infusion from the transfer of Louetta Conko-Camel.
