SANDPOINT — No additional jail time is being imposed against a North Idaho woman who led law enforcement on a high-speed chase through Bonner and Boundary counties last summer.

A Sandpoint Police officer spotted Kamille Lucille Harriman driving in town on July and attempted to conduct a traffic stop because she was the subject of active arrest warrants, according to a probable cause affidavit. Harriman failed to yield, however, touching off chase that coursed along Baldy Mountain Road, North Boyer Avenue and ultimately U.S. Highway 95 in Ponderay, the affidavit said.

Speeds reached 100 mph in the 45-mph zone in Ponderay as Bonner County sheriff’s deputies joined in the pursuit as it hurtled north toward Boundary County. Harriman allegedly sped through the temporary 35-mph zone at the site of the Naples landslide at 80-100 mph and placed other motorists’ safety at risk, according to court documents.

Bonners Ferry Police and Idaho State Police set up a spike strip south of Bonners Ferry, which succeeded in deflating the tires on Harriman’s vehicle. Harriman was apprehended without further incident after her disabled vehicle rolled to a stop near Kootenai Trail Road, court records indicate.

Harriman, 35, pleaded not guilty in August, but later reversed that plea as her case neared trial. A plea agreement in the case recommended a suspended one- to three-year term and 30 days of local incarceration.

Eluding law enforcement in Idaho is punishable by up to five years in prison, a $50,000 fine and a three-year driver’s license revocation, according to state code.

First District Judge Barbara Buchanan imposed a suspended one- to two-year term when Herriman was sentenced on Tuesday, court records show. She was placed on probation for two years and ordered to pay nearly $700 in fines and court costs.

Harriman was given credit for 43 days of pretrial incarceration and no additional custodial time was imposed in her case, according to court documents.
