In basketball, the St. Regis Lady Tigers took an early lead against Noxon last Friday on the road. They jumped out in the first quarter to put 11 points on the board, leaving the Lady Red Devils down by eight points. The remainder of the matchup was fairly close, but Noxon couldn’t pull ahead, leaving the Tigers with the win, 31-23.

The St. Regis boys’ trip to Noxon didn’t produce a win despite an early lead with 11 to 7 at the end of the first quarter. The Red Devils pulled out into a strong lead by the half with the score 27-15. In the second half, the Tigers only trailed by a few baskets, but the Devils came out on top with a final score of 53-34. Teams stats were not available.

The Clark Fork basketball teams traveled to Troy on Dec. 6, racking up double victories. The Lady Cats pulled ahead of the Trojans 25-14 by the half. Unable to catch up, the Cats jumped into a win with 41-32 for the final score. During the game, senior Madison Mask played a stellar game — putting up 26 points. Izzy Pereira had four points; Sorren Reese and Margaret Parkin, three each; both Emma Baughman and Sophie Krutilla had two; Darby Haskin, one.

The Clark Fork boys kept steady pace with the Trojans, commanding a small lead at the half with 25-20. However, it was enough to keep Troy at bay and the Cats pulled out a win, 47-42. Carson Callison dominated play, putting up 19 points. Bryan Mask had eight; Danner Haskins, seven; Michael Spence, six; Aaron Waddle, four; and Korey Radford, three.

No major flooding as snow thaws

“As the ground starts thawing, the rocks start falling,” was a post made on the Mineral County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page last week. A photo accompanied the post of a big rock which had come down on Mullan Road East near the Big Eddy fishing access in Superior on March 11. “Please be aware of your surroundings and pay attention while driving,” they warned in the post.
