Pins awarded

Two Basin men were honored during the Washington Association of Conservation Districts meeting at Yakima last week.

Donald Gillespie of Warden received a 20-year service pin and William Bellamy of Moses Lake received a WACD pin for 25 years of service.

Luncheon planned

The Moses Lake Job Corps will hold a community relations luncheon and meeting at noon Thursday at the Administration Building.

School evacuated

Students and teachers evacuated Frontier Junior High School for about five minutes Monday after a bomb threat was received at noon.

By the time police arrived, most of the students were back in school. No bomb was found.

A voice on the phone said, “There’s a bomb in the school” The person who received the call couldn’t determine if the voice was that of a male or female, police said.

Chiefs wrestle

The Moses Lake Chief Wrestlers get their first dual meet of the year and meet their first big 9 opponent today at 7 p.m. in the Moses Lake High School gym when they take on the Walla Walla Blue Devils.

The chiefs started the season with a Saturday tournament championship at Othello, over wrestling trams form Lewis and Clark, Othello, Sunnyside, Royal, Ephrata and Pasco.

In other matchups tonight, the Moses Lake Chief girls’ basketball team with an opening win over Othello under its belt, travels to Central Valley.

The Quincy boys’ basketball team goes to Waterville while the Ephrata girls’ basketball team entertains always powerful Cashmere.

In Basin wrestling action, it’s Warden at Royal in a clash of the region’s two most powerful A teams, while the Quincy Jackrabbits entertain defending A state champion Cashmere.
