At the NWA vs. SWA Tip-Off on the University of Montana campus, the Ronan Maidens split their weekend fare. In their season opener against Frenchtown, the Maidens generated solid first-frame point productivity, but the Lady Bronc defense tightened to create multiple turnovers that were translated into transition points at the other end. Ronan got a solid double-double from Jaylea Lunceford with 13 points along with 15, while Tiana Ulutoa was the only other player for the Maidens to net double digits with a sharp eye at the charity stripe.
On Saturday at the UM Auxilary Gym, the Maidens outscored the Lady Beavers in both frames of the first half, then countered with just enough during the second half to hold their opponent at bay. Madison Clairmont was the only player to reach double figures for the Maidens, but the remainder of the roster generated balanced scoring as they spread the wealth around.
The Maidens hit the road this weekend against Browning and Libby, then are slated to host Hamilton on Tuesday, Dec. 18, at the Ronan Events Center.

MAC, Ronan, Polson compete at Frenchtown tournament
At Polson last Tuesday, the visiting Lady Bulldogs showed measurable improvement by making defensive plays on the field, keeping the score within a single digit margin and extending the game through seven innings. Polson plated all the points they would need when they sent their entire lineup to the plate in the first inning, capped by a dual RBI double by Quinn Motichka. The Lady Pirates would add the icing to the cake in the fourth inning with the first home run of the season, a three bag tater by Hannah Fryberger.
