Kalispell City Council unanimously passed its two main agenda items at its Dec. 17 meeting.

Council upheld a resolution of intent to create a tax increment financing district, which will fund the infrastructure projects in the recently adopted Kalispell Downtown Urban Renewal Plan. A public hearing for the tax district will be held at the council’s next meeting on Jan. 7.

The group also approved an extension of the Westside Neighborhood Parking Management Zone in its second reading. The ordinance adds the 700 block of Sixth Avenue West to the zone, created in 2015 to mitigate parking issues near Flathead High School.

During the Dec. 3 meeting, a homeowner on the block asked that the extension take effect as soon as possible. City Manager Doug Russell assured the council on Monday that bases had been set for two of the needed signs in anticipation of the ordinance passing and the remaining two signs can be attached to poles already in existence.
