CulverCareers operates through the idea that the modern workforce can live and work anywhere.
The national recruiting and head hunting firm opened in Whitefish about three years ago, and recently expanded into a larger office in the Galleries building at the corner of East Second Street and Baker Avenue.
CulverCareers is an executive staffing agency specializing in sales and marketing recruiting. The business was founded 30 years ago in San Diego.
Ty Culver and Chris Edelen head up the Whitefish office with about seven employees with space for double that.
“The modern workforce can be remote,” Culver said. “About 50 percent of Americans work remotely.”
They say that CulverCareers is one of the top rated firms in recruiting in the country.
“We have clients based all over the world that are growing in the U.S. and we help them scale their teams,” Culver said. “Our clients range from recently funded startups to multi-billion dollar global corporations.”
Though they say the businesses they work with are most often located out of state, they’re always looking to add local clients to the list.
Culver and Edelen started the Whitefish branch out of a garage and slowly have been growing the business ever since. Culver, whose father Tim Culver is the CEO of the company, has lived here about eight years and is a graduate of Montana State University. Edelen most recently was a manager with Sportsman Ski Haus in Kalispell and grew up here. To staff the Whitefish office they continue to hire folks already living here but looking for a new opportunity.
“We always joke that we are 2 minutes from the lake, 5 minutes from the ski hill and have Glacier National Park right in our back yard,” Culver said. “If you can live and work anywhere you really can’t beat Whitefish.”
Edelen says the rewarding part is finding and matching up employers with employees.
“Most of the employees we find are in a place where they want to take a new job to better themselves, make more money, travel less, or in a new location,” he said. “Those thank you cards you get from appreciative people are worth it.”
