WALLACE — In a true tip-of-the-hat to the history of Wallace, the iconic Sixth Street Melodrama and Theater will be playing host to “The Cigarette Girls of Burlesque” this Friday.

Available to those 21 and older, event organizer Greg Bosen stresses that this event is not a strip tease.

“This is going to be a very tasteful show … It’s an event where powerful women can celebrate themselves.”

The Montana based Cigarette Girls boast that “no one gets the dance floor thumpin’ and your blood pumpin’ like these gals!”

This unique event came about when Bosen and others in Wallace were pondering other events that could go along with the Wallace Winter Fest. Since the famous skijor event is largely weather dependent, something else was needed to help keep the festivities alive if no snow was available.

That is when Bosen had the idea to contact Cigarette Girls.

From the moment he brought up the idea, the troupe was hooked and wanted to make it a reality.

“They are super pumped to come to Wallace,” Bosen said. “They understand the history of Wallace and they love it.”

When the performers arrive later this week, they will be staying in the semi-recently remodeled Lux Rooms above the Silver Corner Bar in Wallace.

Staying in a former bordello only adds to the experience for the girls, as the Sixth Street theater already has its own vintage nuances.

“On their side of things, this is the coolest thing ever,” Bosen said.

The Cigarette Girls of Burlesque will be performing at 5 and 9 p.m. on Friday.

If tickets are still available, they can be purchased at www.skiwallace.com.
