SANDPOINT — Amanda Thome, PT, DPT, is joining the staff at Cornerstone Physical Therapy.

Thome will join Cornerstone’s orthopedic and aquatic physical therapy practice as of Jan. 1, 2019. Thome will serve as a staff physical therapist as well as the managing business partner at Cornerstone where she looks forward to expanding the already successful clinic.

Thome graduated magna cum laude from Columbia University with her doctorate in physical therapy in 2010. Since graduating, she has had the opportunity to work at some of the top-rated facilities in the nation. Additionally, she has taken many extensive continuing education courses that have helped to develop her skills as a therapist. Prior to joining Cornerstone, she served as the lead physical therapist for Idaho Pain Clinic, where she eventually served as their director of rehabilitation.

Thome brings with her an extensive skill set in treating a variety of patients and conditions. Her most recent experience has been directed at providing exceptional care to those facing chronic pain conditions in addition to those requiring pre- and post-operative physical therapy services in addition to treating patients with acute pain, generalized deconditioning and those with balance or vestibular disorders. Thome is one of only a few physical therapists in the state of Idaho that is ImPACT concussion trained, and she said she takes great enjoyment in helping those suffering with post concussion symptoms.

Cornerstone officials said they are excited to have Thome’s strong background in manual therapy combined with her knowledge of the body and how to help patients recover and reach their personal goals. Thome will offer treatment approaches to the patients that are both land and aquatic based. Thome said it is her belief that each patient presentation is unique, and thus the care provided must be tailored and directed specifically for the patient being treated.

In addition to offering land and pool based physical therapy services Thome will also utilize Cornerstones FootMaxx technology in order to create custom orthotics to her patients and those in the community.

When Amanda is not in the clinic she enjoys exploring the Pacific Northwest with her husband, Dr.Clinton Thome, and their two dogs, Magz and Athena. Thome can be found at Schweitzer snowboarding during the winters or at the stables riding her horse Chinook.
