A teacher in the Ronan School District has resigned following an investigation.

“Last week we had an allegation brought to administration that a teacher and a high school student were engaged in an inappropriate relationship,” Ronan Superintendent Mark Johnston supplied by email Friday, Jan. 26.

A Title IX investigation, which is a comprehensive federal law prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sex in any federally funded education program or activity, was initiated, and before the investigation commenced the teacher resigned, Johnston confirmed.

A special board of education meeting was held on Jan. 22, where the board accepted the resignation.

A call to the district’s counsel was not immediately returned by press time.
