ROYAL CITY — Police in Royal City are still on the lookout for two males who reportedly robbed a store in the city last week at gunpoint.

The two masked assailants reportedly entered Estudillo’s Food Store on Camelia Street Northwest about 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan 25. Royal City Police Department Chief Darin Smith said the suspects were wearing black clothing and brandished handguns when they entered the business.

The suspects demanded the store clerks hand over money from the cash register. An undisclosed amount of money was handed over and the suspects fled the area on foot. Smith said the store clerks were frazzled during the robbery and were not able to tell police how tall the suspects were or how much they weighed.

There were no reported injuries during the robbery. If you have any information on the incident contact the Royal City Police Department at 509-346-2212 or MACC Dispatch at 509-762-1160.

Big turnout for Warden Community Days

WARDEN — Five-year-old Juan Vela Jr. sat on the curb with his head down after the Warden Community Days parade Monday morning. The young boy had arrived at the parade too late and missed out on a lot of free candy. As people were leaving the parade, much to Juan’s surprise, a passerby put a grocery bag full of candy in his lap and simply walked away without saying a word or glancing back to see the boy’s bewildered reaction.
