MOSES LAKE — A Moses Lake man who reportedly attempted to elude police after crashing into a car at a stop light is facing several charges in connection with the incident.

Grant County prosecutors charged Domonick Sapp, 25, of Moses Lake, in Grant County Superior Court with attempting to elude, escape of community custody, hit-and-run (attended vehicle) and third-degree driving with a suspended or revoked license.

On Feb. 2 a detective with the Moses Lake Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit was on patrol and stopped at the Stratford Road/Valley Road intersection. At some point the officer reported hearing a thud behind him. A red Cadillac reportedly pulled away from a fender bender behind the cop and started accelerating through a nearby parking lot, despite the owner of the vehicle he crashed into attempting to wave him down.

The Cadillac, alleged to be driven by Sapp, failed to pull over for the officer and the driver reportedly made his way back onto Stratford Road and started heading north. Sapp was reportedly driving recklessly and illegally passed several vehicles in front of him on Stratford Road.

“Stratford between Maple (Drive) and Stone Road is a one lane road with a double turn lane. There was a vehicle northbound in front of Sapp and he used the double turn lane to pass it,” wrote the officer. “Sapp then came to another vehicle in front of him on northbound Stratford between Stone and Harris (Road). He again used the middle turn lane to pass it, not slowing at all.”

As he approached Harris Road, Sapp reportedly attempted to make a left turn, but he was traveling at too fast of a speed. The Cadillac reportedly crashed and Sapp was taken into custody at the scene without further incident.
