The Clark Fork Mountain Cats Varsity Girls Basketball aren’t the only girls team to go undefeated this season. The Mountain Cats Junior High team also was undefeated with a 12-0 season and won their championship game on Saturday, Feb. 11.

In St. Regis the JH Cats faced Noxon and the game was close with the Cats ahead at the half, 21-16. By the end of regular play the teams were tied up, 38-38. The Cats finally pulled out for the lead and won 46-41 with Sorren Reese making a basket at the final buzzer.

Junior High played seven other teams this season including Arlee, Charlo, Plains, St. Regis, Noxon and Hot Springs. Head Coach from Alberton, Josh Reese, said there are three squads, AB and C. All three squads went undefeated except “C” lost one game.

“This has been a fun, intelligent group of girls to coach,” he said.

They play well together and are quick on the court with their strategy. Five are eighth graders and will be moving up to the JV and Varsity team next year, most have played together since the fifth grade. The eighth graders are Sorren Reese, Cassie Green, Taylor Haskins, Aubrie Constant, and Zoe Kelsey. Coaches this season are Reese, Superior Head Coach Bryron Quinlan, and assistant coaches Darren Haskins and Jessica Faust.

“We are just one big, happy family out there. Family, fun and finish was our theme,” said Reese.
