The weather was a warm 55 degrees last Thursday but it didn’t keep locals away from the CASA chili event in Plains.

Locals converged down to the basement where the air was filled with smells of homemade chili, cornbread and pie.

The event kicked off at 5 p.m. and each event goer who passed through the door also got put into a lucky door prize raffle.

District Judge Deborah ‘Kim’ Christopher also stopped in and had a chat with locals while supporting the event.

The small basement of the Plains Saint James Catholic Church began to fill quickly, but organizes weren’t worried saying there was plenty of food to go around.
